Being raised in Texas, I had plenty of opportunity to be barefoot. Thus, plenty of opportunity to arrive home with my feet (and often the rest of me) covered in dirt. I was always getting messy, always getting lost, always looking for an adventure around every corner because I wanted the world that seemed so beyond me to be so much closer. ‘Wanderlust’ doesn’t even begin to cover it! For as long as I can remember I’ve been adding places and experiences around the world to my long list of to-do’s. Growing up I spent hours planning trips I never went on and the day I graduated high school, I promised myself I’d find a way to go through all of them.
The purpose of The Dirty Foot Movement is to be more than a blog. It was born out of my deepest desire: to see people live their lives to the fullest. Nothing cheesy about it. So many people make excuses as to why they can’t follow their dreams- whether that be moving to a different country for a year or going to medical school or achieving their fitness goals- and refuse to see how possible it all is! Sure, there’s some noteworthy factors to keep in mind when making big decisions, I’m not saying that you should be selfish or impulsive. What I am saying is that those dreams are in you for a reason. That awareness of purpose in you is there for a reason. So why are you avoiding it? Why are you afraid? What is holding you back? I’m sure your answer is valid, but I’m also sure that at the end of your life on Earth, you’re going to care more about the dream you didn’t pursue than the excuse that kept you from it.
Throughout this blog you’ll see me doing my best to take life by the horns, all in the hopes that you’ll do the same. No moment of following your dreams is wasted, regardless of how it turns out. You are amazing, capable, worthy, strong, and so much more, and I pray that The DFM inspires you to create the life you deserve to live.
